Call-out One $89 charge covers getting a technician to your kitchen and diagnosing the fault in full; approve the repair and that $89 comes off its price.
Neither kind of Wolf range is the dearer one to repair as a rule; the fault decides. The gas cooktop is the same story on both, and the ovens differ. Wolf Repair Seattle, (206) 339-4211, finds which half has failed on the $89 diagnosis and prices it against the band that part belongs to, with one figure before work begins.
Same top, different oven
Look down at either range and you see the same thing: gas burners, each lit by its own spark. Open the oven door and the two part company. A dual fuel oven bakes and broils with electric elements under electronic control; an all-gas oven lights its bake and broil burners with an igniter that keeps clicking until its board senses a flame. The checks for both halves are on our range repair page.
Where each oven lands
An all-gas oven that stays cold usually sends us to the ignition parts, which sit in the igniter band. A dual fuel oven that stays cold points at an element, the sensor or the control, and an element has no band of its own, so it is priced after the diagnosis. In an older house such as many in Ballard, a dual fuel range added in a remodel also brings the house wiring into the question before any part is named.
Whether the range’s age changes any of this is on the older Wolf units page.
What moves the final figure
- The cooktop half
- Both kinds burn gas on top with spark ignition, so a clicking or weak burner lands in the same igniter or valve band either way.
- The oven half
- A dual fuel oven heats with electric elements; an all-gas oven lights a burner by spark, so the same cold oven leads to different parts.
- Which oven has a fan
- On an all-gas Wolf range only the full-size ovens carry a convection fan, so a narrow second oven never runs into that band.
