Wolf Range Repair in Rainier Beach

Conditions here

  • Air Lake air at the south end Damp off the water lingers in kitchens near the shore, and a wet igniter clicks exactly like a broken one.
  • Building Houses sloping to the lake Kitchens sit at every level on the hillside, so we ask which floor the range is on and how the stairs run.
  • Access Residential streets Street parking is usually close; a long flight of steps down to a lakeside house is useful for us to know first.
Gas range set between grey cabinets, oven door down with a rack and a folded grey towel and wrench on it, one burner cap removed

Rainier Beach runs down its slope to the southern end of Lake Washington, and houses close to the shore keep more of the lake’s damp indoors. On a Wolf range that damp gathers around the spark igniter at each burner, where the spark has to jump a small gap to reach gas. Wolf Repair Seattle, (206) 339-4211, checks each burner’s spark, cap seating and ports before deciding whether an electrode or the spark module has failed.

Clicking without a flame

Wolf’s first advice for a burner that clicks but will not catch is sensible: if it was just cleaned or something boiled over, the igniter may be wet, so let it dry and try again. Check that the cap sits flat and, on models where it screws on, that it is tight.

When the burner stays dry and seated but still clicks without lighting, the fault has moved inside. A cracked electrode, a worn wire or a weak spark module all sound the same. When several burners go quiet at once, suspect a part they have in common before replacing electrodes one by one. One quirk worth knowing: on some earlier Wolf R and RT series units, several burners click when you light just one, and that is normal.

What an electrode or module replacement comes to is on the igniter and spark module cost page; the rest of our range work is on the Wolf range repair page.

Up the valley, Columbia City mixes older houses with new flats, and oven temperature is the usual complaint.

  • Clicking carried on well after the flame was up, all night if you let it. A spark switch under the knob had stuck closed from an old boil-over. Quiet ever since.

  • Door glass fogged and the seal hung loose at the bottom corner. Hinge springs had gone soft, so the door never pulled square. New springs and a gasket, and it shuts properly.

  • Oven side went dead after a power cut while the cooktop carried on as normal. A blown thermal fuse and a tired igniter. Two parts off the van and it baked that evening.
